Overview
Using a variety of supplies, iPads and iMovie software, students will conduct a cumulative scientific investigation and produce a 5-15 minute video segment to communicate the processes and concepts of 8th grade physics (forces, Newton’s Laws of Motion, speed, velocity and acceleration).
Project Summary
The physics iMovie project takes place over a three-week period. It counts as a major grade equivalent to a test. In addition to standardized testing required by the state, this provides students with a supplemental opportunity to show mastery of content. This project allows students to advance understanding of material while incorporating creativity, problem solving and building upon the strengths of group members through collaboration. Students will demonstrate their knowledge of physics standards (TEKS) using an iPad and various supplies of their choice to create an iMovie video.
